When the Fog Rolls In

Jan 10, 2026

I was on my walk this morning and approached a view I’ve grown to love: the mountains standing tall above a plunging canyon. Except today, they were gone.

Not really gone. Just hidden.

A thick fog had rolled in overnight, softening every edge and blurring every line. What’s usually clear and breathtaking was now muted and mysterious.

And it hit me. This is exactly what it feels like when the mind gets foggy.

You know those days when your thoughts feel like they’re moving through molasses? When you can’t quite see what’s next? When the goals, the clarity, the purpose you usually hold feel distant or even out of reach?

That’s a foggy mind. And just like the weather outside, it’s temporary but powerful.

Here’s what I’ve learned:
You can’t force the fog to lift.
But you can trust that it will.
And in the meantime, you can still move.

On foggy days, literal or mental, I come back to a simple truth: the mountain hasn’t moved. The clarity, the purpose, the vision I’ve worked toward are still there. I just can’t see them right now. And that’s okay.

This is where resilience lives—not in always seeing clearly, but in learning to navigate the unseen. It’s about trusting what’s beyond the fog and grounding yourself in what you do know: your values, your rhythm, your breath.

So if today feels foggy for you, mentally or otherwise, remember this:
The mountain is still there.
The path is still yours.
And clarity is waiting for the right light to shine through.

Keep going, even if you can’t see it yet.

With belief in your resilience,
Tom LeNoble
